Hi: One of my sisters described me as reliable and competent. She said she felt so certain that I would find a way to handle things, that she felt comfortable just having me around in almost any situation. Another sister told me later that she compared all her dates to me and only moved ahead with a fellow if he matched most of my characteristics. I have to laugh at this because I have many faults, including untidyness and spelling deficits, enough to match my sterling qualities, probably point for point. You will never meet a man exactly like me.

I'm a 48 year old white man from Valley Forge, PA. I consider my appearance to be good looking. I am 5'11 tall with an athletic build. I have brown hair, wild hazel eyes and a fair complexion.

My ideal match:
This question is too difficult to work with. I want to find a woman who can be loved. When I feel that way I want to touch, caress, kiss, hug, laugh with, play with, adventure with, massage, snuggle, make love, make food, enjoy children together, and not be shy about showing feelings. She will be a non-smoker, able to enjoy or tolerate the outdoors, willing to speak her mind rather than have people guess what she thinks, comfortable in old clothes at times, and have ideas of her own about how to keep a relationship going for life.

The ideal setting for a first date:
First dates or any dates can be fun or horrible. I enjoy traditional get-togethers with small groups, the usual dinner, movie, etc. I would much rather spend time doing something real like walking/hiking, snowshoeing/skiing, working together on a project or repair, working together on anything that needs doing, talking, cooking, planting/harvesting, or some activity. One great first date, long ago, involved fixing fences on her farm.

My favorite hangout or club:
I would rather spend time with neighbors/friends than go to a club, except that outdoor clubs like the Appalachian Mountain Club can be lots of fun for me.

Work:
My teaching work is very rewarding but I must have the variety of non-teaching work to mak me happy. I fix things, build things, invent stuff, do home repair, car repair, electrical work, roofing etc.

What I like to do when I'm not at work:
Ha! I should have read ahead. Well besides work stuff I like to nordic ski, hike, fish, hunt, climb, cave, bike, creek wade, swamp stomp, explore, write computer games for education, solve problems, trim trees, read, dance, and play with my son.

Where I see myself two to five years from now:
Seems like a silly question, but would make good conversation for later.

If I could change one thing about myself:
I change stuff all the time but rarely important things.

Final thoughts:
Not dead yet, and why would anyone want to be? Thank you, universe, for the chance to be here.
